  • Mountain Pose – Tadasana

Mountain pose is the foundation of all standing poses for yoga beginners. It is a great starting position, resting pose, or tool to improve posture, balance, and calm focus.

Stand with your feet together. Lift your toes and balls of your feet, lift the thigh, and the waist to elongate the spine. While doing this pose your ears, shoulders, hips, and ankles all should be in one line.

Keep your breathing smooth & even and hold the pose for up to one minute. Focus on the present moment and let all worries fade away. There are many yoga classes available for beginners where they teach this pose.

  • Plank Pose – Kumbhakasana

Plank pose is an arm balancing yoga pose that tones the abdominal muscles and strengthens the arms & spine. In this pose, you have to kneel with your palms and knees touching the ground. Then slide back the feet to lift the knees, so that the toes and the two palms now bear all the weight.

This way, you will feel that you are in a straight line of energy from the head to feet. Breathe deeply for 9-10 breaths and then release the pose.

  • Tree Pose – Vrksasana

  • Child’s Pose – Balasana

Child’s pose is a relaxing pose that can be sequenced between more challenging asanas. Start with a tabletop shape on all fours (palms and knees).

After that, slowly lower your hips towards your heels. Then take your hands forward and rest your head on the floor. Take several slow breaths in this pose. Hold for as long as you can or wish.

  • Bridge Pose – Setubandhasana

This pose is one of the most versatile backbends which can fire you up or cool you down as per your need. First of all, lie on the back with knees bent and hands & feet on the mat. Lift the lower back off the ground as high as possible, and hold this pose for 8-10 seconds to 1 minute. To exit the bridge pose, lower your back to the floor.

  • Chair Pose – Utkatasana

It strengthens the muscles in your thighs and feet, tones your core muscles, and improves ankle mobility. To enter this pose, breathe out as you bend your knees and move your hips back as if you are sitting on a chair.

Inhale as you raise your arms up around your head in line with your ears. Keep reaching higher, while sitting lower for 8-10 breaths. To exit this pose, exhale as you press your feet down to straighten your legs and then bring your arms down to your sides.
